CBIC amended an older notification related to Tariff Values for Edible Oils, Precious Metals and Areca Nuts

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on July 31, 2026, amended an older notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated August 03, 2001, related to Tariff Values for Edible Oils, Precious Metals and Areca Nuts.

The following has been stated:-

•The Central Government has revised the tariff values for specified imported goods by substituting Tables 1, 2 and 3 under Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.). 

•The revised tariff values apply to crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts, while the tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged. 

•The updated tariff values will be used for customs duty assessment and come into effect from August 01, 2026.
